Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how SideDish, operated by Nicholas Murphy (“we,” “us”), collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and services. By using SideDish, you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address and a securely hashed password (handled by our auth provider).
Payment information. If you subscribe, payment is processed by Stripe. We receive limited details such as your subscription status and the last four digits / card brand. We do not store your full card number.
Submissions. If you use the “Be Featured” form or are interviewed, we collect what you provide (name, project, URL, email, and the details you approve for publication).
Usage data. Like most sites, we may collect basic technical and analytics data (pages viewed, device/browser type, approximate location from IP) to operate and improve the Service.
2. How we use information
To create and manage your account; to provide and gate access to the case studies and community; to process payments and renewals; to respond to you; to maintain security and prevent abuse; to improve the Service; and to send service-related and (if you opt in) occasional update emails. We do not sell your personal information.
3. Service providers
We share information only with vendors that help us run SideDish, under their own privacy terms:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
- Vercel — website hosting and delivery.
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Discord — the members’ community.
- An email provider — to send account and update emails.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
4. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary to keep you signed in and to run the site, and we may use limited analytics cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
5. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data.
6. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures (including access controls and row-level security in our database) to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing (for example under GDPR or CCPA). To exercise any of these, email us and we’ll respond within a reasonable time. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
8. International users
We operate from the United States and our providers may process data in the United States and elsewhere. By using SideDish, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in countries with different data-protection laws.
9. Children
SideDish is not intended for anyone under 18, and we don’t knowingly collect information from children.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. We’ll revise the date above and, for material changes, notify members where appropriate.
